Dog Tubs for Bathtime
I have just recently opened a dog grooming business in my home town with a friend of mine. It is a small town, but there are quite a few people with dogs and money to spend on them. I have named my business, Doggie’s Day Out – Dog Grooming Service. We discovered a lovely location that used to be a restaurant. The front part is great for displaying shampoos and dog accessories and it has a huge kitchen area with tile flooring in the back. All we had to do was rip out some of the appliances and put in more stainless steel tables. I turned the dish washing area into a shower stall for the canine customers. Then we decided to buy round wash tubs to use like a bath tub for the smaller dogs. Lara and I discovered a great place online to buy a variety of washtub sizes.
I figure we will have multiple sized dogs meaning we’ll need several different sized wash tubs. This site has an 8 gallon, 11.5 gallon, 15 gallon and 17 gallon wash tubs. These tubs are galvanized meaning they will be rust resistant. That’s great because I’ll be putting a lot of water in these tubs.
The 8 gallon round wash tub is 8.25 inches tall, 17.25 inches at the top and 14 5/8 inches at the bottom. I think a small to medium sized dog will fit well in this tub. we bought two of these tubs.
The 11.5 gallon round wash tub is 10 1/8 inches tall, 20 inches at the top and 17 3/8 inches at the bottom. This tub will work great for medium sized dogs. we also bought two of these.
The 15 gallon tub measures 10.25 inches tall, 21.5 inches at the top and 19 inches at the bottom. I think we’ll only need one of these tubs in case we have a bigger dog come in, but I don’t think there is much chance of wearing it out.
What I plan to do is hang these on the wall in the shower area for easy access. I’ll just set these tubs up on one of my tables and then dump it into the drain when I’m through.
Hopefully our little business will prove to be successful.
